3Different than I expected...  Dec 24, 2010
By Hofmann
I'm 31yo sort of a semi-pro swimmer and have already tried lot's of different stuff to improve the swim.
I've tried Zoomers, Speedo, Tyr and brazilian brands called Kpaloa and Hammerhead (wich offers the same products of Speedo). They all seemed ok with only minor differences such as size, shape and weight...
Anyway, my first impression of Alphafins was that is was incredibly light and looks cool. The EVA material seems a bit weak and the strap doesn't inspire that much trust. (I must say that I'm not looking for anything "cool". I want it to work!)
After a month using it I can say that I didn't like that much "lightness". It floats too much so it's hard to kick correctly and the feet seems to stay too much on the surface of the water, losing effect and propulsion.
The strap is holding till now. But everytime I put them on I take a LOT of care...
It feels true to size. I bought the Medium and my shoe size is 9 so it fits ok. But there's a issue here. The EVA foam isn't that flexible so due to the intense movement it kind of folds the bottom... Don't know if it's meant to be that way or not...
Also due to the material, I'm taking extra care when doing turns because it feels too fragile to handle sprints turns
Well that's my opinion about it. I'm not sure I would buy it again. I'm hoping it lasts longer than it seems :-\

5Great fins!  Jun 05, 2010
By Colleen
I swim in Seattle and noticed a lot of people using these fins the past few years. After testing them out I finally decided to get my own pair, figuring these would not only be great during practice, but for an upcoming trip to Hawaii. The fins are incredibly lightweight and flexible, and I definitely prefer these over Zoomers or regular fins. I barely notice they're in my gear bag, unlike the Makapuus that my boyfriend lugs around. I wear a women's size 8 and was torn between ordering an XS or S, but decided to get the Small. I was worried that they would be too big, but they fit just fine. I guess the XS probably would have been too snug, especially since these are close toed unlike other fins or Zoomers. I feel like the Aqua Sphere is shaped to correct your kick, but you can also get moving pretty quickly with them. They're great for kick sets, your legs will be more buoyant swimming with them. I used them for snorkeling and found that they aren't as propulsive as regular fins but I mostly swam around instead anyway. Overall, this is a good fin for beginner swimmers to much higher skill levels, and I definitely recommend them. The only dilemma is deciding which size to order if you're in between.

5Training Fins  Jul 10, 2009
By J. MOCZO
These fins are outstanding when used for long training swims, over 100 meters. Since the fins float they help your legs ride higher, thus allowing you the opportunity to work on your body balance and stroke. I do not use them for short swims or intervals as they are not stiff enough for rapid kicking. For short intervals or high rate of kicking you are better off with Zoomers by Finis

4interesting workout adjunct  Apr 03, 2010
By EL Bloom
These fins have allowed me to add some interesting challenges to my swim. The foam material has workout pros and cons. Main pro: increased sensory input plus surface position makes me more aware of my knee extension during flutter kick. Main con: also during (prone) flutter kick, the fins tend to keep my feet level on the surface, thus decreasing long-axis rotation. All in all, I'm glad I purchased these and am enjoying the added variety.

5Great for the pool  Jul 25, 2010
By JavaSkull
These fins are incredibly light (suitable for carrying in a gym bag) and comfortable. The Amazon site does not have enough info on it to determine proper sizing, so I went to the manufacturer's website to determine what size I needed. Their guidance was spot on, and my new fins fit great.
