Fairly solid, minor leakage Sep 02, 2010 At first this mask fit fantastically well - the suction of the seal is amazingly good, but after a short while (6 swims over 3 weeks, approx one hour each), it started to leak some water in, so I assume the seal is not perfect.
I typically swim one mile breaststroke in open water (Lake Michigan), and that will take between 35-55 mins. The mask has started to leak some water, causing me to stop and empty it 2-3 times per swim. I'm not sure if this a slightly faulty mask or a result of my average strength swimming in often choppy waters. Either way, this is not perfect, and I may consider a different Aquasphere product next time.
Aqua Sphere Seal XP Swim Mask (Regular, Blue Lens/Transparent Frame) Jul 26, 2010 Good seal, low profile. great Italian design.
Not ideal for backstroke where greater side view is needed.
More drag for fast swimming, but perfect for general swimming,
practice,long distance,open water,etc.
Awesome Mar 18, 2010 I love these goggles!!
For years I bought, broken, yelled at, bought new ones, broke, screamed at, given to my children etc. goggles until these.
The fit great, there is not a spec of water coming in them (you must fit them right first ofcourse), they do not fog up.
I have swum in pools, lakes, oceans and these are the best I have ever used.
Yes, they are a bit more than the streamline items, but also a lot less then some other more well known brands.
Additionally, they look better in real life then the way they are displayed in the picture.
Gasket is wider than the regular Seal mask Aug 19, 2009 I had used the photochromic Seal mask for years and loved it. Wanted to get something that was clear for indoor lap swimming and thought I might get this more streamlined model. Couldn't get a good seal on my face. When placed side-by-side with my old mask, I could see that the edges of the gasket on the XP extended out further than the Seal. So I exchanged for the "small" XP. Still couldn't get a good fit. I think the fundamental reason is that the attachment point for the headband on the XP is on a flexible part of the frame, so tightening down distorts the part of the "skirt" that has to seal onto your face. On the Seal model, the headband is anchored on the rigid frame that holds the lenses, so the "skirt" is free to conform to your face and the pressure of the headband pulling the mask onto your face is distributed more evenly. End result, I got the clear-lens model of the Seal mask and it fits great just like the old photochromic one I have.
