Extended swimming- Great gear for exercising Dec 18, 2007
By Juan Gastelumendi I love this snorkel. I personally are not a huge fan of exercising, but I do enjoy swimming, and decided to use swimming as my exercise program. At first, I got very tired after very few laps, but after starting to use the freestyle snorkel, I can swim much more without getting tired or having to stop every few laps. The difference was incredible for me. I went from swimming about 700m to about 2000 in a matter of days. I enjoy the fact that I can breathe when I want/need, independantly of at what stage of the stroke I am. Since I swim for the exercise, and not competitively, this is a great product. I give only 4 stars, because after 2 months of use, one of the pieces that get in your mouth for you to bite (it has 2, not sure how to call them) came off, probably due to me biting to hard on it, could still be used quite comfortably with only one of these, but still went ahead and bought another.
This product has made swimming an enjoyable exercise. I love it and would recommend it to anybody.

Takes getting used to Sep 08, 2008
By David Kaufman I have the finis center mount snorkel and I got the hang of that one but this one gives me some trouble. I bought the freestyle snorkel because I've seen some great swimmers all using it so I had to give it a try but I prefer the center mount snorkel. Supposedly the freestyle snorkel is bent to make it harder for water to come in at the top but a lot of water was getting in. (Of course I'm not sure if water came in the top or if my seal around the mouthpiece was not tight enough or how water was getting in.) I'm not giving up on it altogether but i found the center mount snorkel easier to use.

Finis Freestyle Snorkel Feb 15, 2008
By Sue We are using this snorkel in swim lessons to work on body balance. It is a great tool because if you move your head out of place, you get water in the snorkel. It is easy to use and comfortable.

The only thing better would be a blow hole on the back of my head! May 13, 2010
By D. Keith Karasik I've been a fitness swimmer for most of my life and after taking a 15 year hiatus, at 55 I just don't have the lung power I once did. I found myself gasping for air, getting tired sooner and just not enjoying my workout as much.
I noticed some swimmers using a traditional side-mount snorkel and thought that might be a good solution, but couldn't stop thinking how the torque generated by the water pushing against the mouth piece would be uncomfortable, dangerous and painful.
I typically do a fair amount of research before purchasing new items and was surprised to learn that a front-mount snorkel had been designed for the fitness swimmer. Thank you, FINIS. You got this one right!
I just got it and was more than thrilled. It took no time at all to get used to it, although I still occasionally feel the urge to turn my head to take a breath. After realizing I don't have to anymore, I can breathe normally, deeply with no more gasping.
As a result, I can spend more time swimming, focusing on better stroke dynamics, getting a better workout and doing more laps. I paired the snorkel with Speedo Aqua Fit Training Swim Gloves and now go fairly fast with absolutely no negative torque.
My workouts are fun again.
P.S. With a proper head position, I experienced no water leaking in.

finis freestyle snorkel Jun 30, 2009
By Aimee A. Reyes this snorkel is wonderful.I can now extend the length of my workout. Without this device I could swim laps for about 30 min straight, but slowly so that I can keep up with my breath. Now I am able to work out for an hour straight and with speed.I love it.....I guess the only drawback is that after awhile it does tend to hurt a little on the forehead, but i just deal with it....
