 Surfer's Ear isn't so bad with an ear dryer. May 16, 2006

I've got surfer's ear and have been to the doctor too many times to count. He keeps tellin' me I've got to quit surfing in order to get the bone to stop growing shut, but giving up surfing just won't do. In the meantime, I've been wearing silicone ear plugs and that helps, but I always end up with some water in my ears afterwards and getting them dry with such tight bone growth is impossible. I saw this dryear thing in the surf magazine and since gettin' one the wet ears thing is no longer a problem. Even after showers this thing really helps. I feel a lot better knowing that my ears aren't wet all day long after a surf or shower. I definitely recommend this to surfers with ear problems.

My audiologist "yelled" at me for using cotton swabs to dry my ears after showering. She recommended Mack's Ear Dryer highly, so I bought it. It really works! It arrived already charged, and after many uses I still haven't had to recharge it. It is great at drying out my ears; warm air blows the water out and when it feels cool, the ear is dry. Each press of the button gives enough warm air to dry one ear. It has 5 different color covers, so the whole family can use it. I highly recommend it.

A must purchase if you get ear infections Aug 13, 2009

I bought the Sahara ear dryer which is the same as the Mack dryer (other than the logo). First off, don't mention that you're buying (or have bought) an ear dryer to your friends or you'll get (at best) a blank stare; at worse you'll be laughed at for some time (especially if they think you've said "rear dryer"). But, if you suffer from chronic ear infections, this is a must purchase.
I swim pretty much every day, and have battled ear infections for years. Tried all the usual treatments to prevent them, such as alcohol drops, ear plugs, vinegar, and combinations thereof. They help (especially the ear plugs) but I still wind up with an infection every couple of months. That's both painful and expensive, since the doc won't give multiple refills of antibiotic drops without an exam.
Saw this and thought I'd give it a shot. In a word, it's fantastic! Not the most sophisticated device in the world - you just place it in your ear, turn it on, and it blows warm air for about a minute. At first, it will feel cool as the water in your ear drys. Then it gets warm. Very comfortable, and very quiet (an important feature of anything that gets near your ear).
I've been using this for nearly one year and, so far, zero ear infections. Longest I've ever gone without one! I use it twice daily, and it really makes my ear feel better (for some reason, I only get infections in one ear). When it arrived I was in the midst of an infection, and the drying action really helped cut down on the usual discomfort of an infection in progress. Once that one cleared up, I've never gotten another.
Wish I could give it more than five stars!

I have lots of gadgets-this one gets used each morning after a shower because it really works. My hearing aid battery life is about double. I hear better-the car radio volume used to be on 45 for me to hear-it is now on 25. I was sending my hearing aids in for maintenance once each six months or so-always the same thing-too much moisture in my ears. Not a problem anymore.

I'm a frequent swimmer and often have to deal with water inside my ears. I bought the Mack's ear dryer to try to address that problem. I'm rather disappointed with this product. The first one I got would completely discharge after only two days, even when I did not use it at all. The manufacturer claims that a single charge should last about 50 uses. So I returned it under warranty. They sent me a new one and... same deal, after only three days the battery is completely depleted, even when I don't use it. I'm tired of sending it back for replacement; so I simply use it plugged into the outlet. But that falls way short of what I expected.
