By Gilgamesh I have used the Swedish Goggles Mirror for a couple of decades, and I love them. They fit my face perfectly, provide plenty of protection outside in the sun, and they are not too dark swimming indoors.
TRADITIONAL GOGGLES VERSUS SWEDISH
If you are used to goggles with gaskets, then these might seem a little strange at first, and it will take a few minutes to become comfortable with them. However, once you have adjusted, you ought to be fine. If you are not, then it is possible they don't fit your face. I've met a few people (not too many) who never could get a good fit.
ASSEMBLY
They arrive unassembled, but they are not difficult to put together, and there are several helpful explanations online (google "assemble swedish goggles").
NOSE-PIECE
I recommend not using the nose-piece that comes with it. It hurts my nose. Instead, cut off a couple inches of the strap (there should be plenty leftover) diagonally so that you can thread the ends through the nose-piece holes. Leave a little hanging out for future adjustments, and cut off any excess. It sounds complicated, but it is not so bad, and it actually takes far less time than the manufacturer's nose-piece. In Google Images, google "swedish goggles nosepiece strap" and you will find a couple of pictures.
DURABILITY
I swim 10,000+ meters a week and find that these goggles last two or three years. Like any goggles, the straps will disintegrate over time, but you can prolong their life by not storing them together with other goggles in a tangled bundle, and airing them out after you use them. I just hang them up in the shower each day with my suit. Straps are not sold separately, so when they finally deteriorate, order some regular swedish goggles (less than $5) and use those straps.
COMPARABLE PRODUCTS
If you don't want to spend this much money on the goggles (they are really inexpensive, in my opinion, but maybe you are unsure about purchasing them) you can get the Original Swedish Goggles in black. They are about 7 dollars less, and give you about the same vision from the inside, but without the cool mirror on the outside!
Excellent product - you must have it! Feb 23, 2010
By I. Saban I've bought these goggles for indoor and outdoor swimming. They are doing a great job in preventing the sun dazzling your eyes while swimming.
I'm a big fan of the Swedish Goggles anyway and these ones are even better that the `regular' ones. Add to them the Goggle Bungee Straps and you've got the perfect match!
Highly recommended both technically and financially!
